Augusta Men’s Golf Secures 11-Stroke Victory at Pearl at Kalauoa Invitational

The Augusta University men’s golf team closed its fall season in dominant fashion on Thursday in Hawaii, capturing the Pearl at Kalauoa Invitational title with an 11-stroke margin over second-place West Virginia, according to augustajags.com.

Augusta finished the tournament at 3-under par across 54 holes, standing alone as the only team in the 17-team field to finish under par. The Jaguars opened play at 2-over par, surged in the second round with a 6-under performance, and sealed the victory by closing at 1-over par. West Virginia finished second at 8-over par, while Loyola Marymount took third place at 12-over par.

Individual Dominance Led by Andries van der Vyver

Andries van der Vyver claimed the individual medalist honors, finishing the tournament at 5-under par. He carded a 1-over opening round before bouncing back with a 4-under second round and a 2-under final round. Teammate Pieter Rossouw Jr. finished just one stroke behind to claim second place at 4-under par, opening with an even-par round followed by matching 2-under scores in the final two rounds. West Virginia’s Michael Shivers rounded out the top three finishers at 3-under par.

Augusta placed three golfers inside the top six. Nicolas van der Vyver tied for sixth place at 2-over par. Further down the leaderboard for the Jaguars, Marcus Goosen and Chapman Barnett both tied for 26th place at 8-over par. Max Thomas, competing as an individual, shot an even-par final round to finish in a tie for 41st at 11-over par.
