Checks on the Way From $1.2 Million Restitution Fund

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced Wednesday that financial compensation is currently being mailed out to local veterans who were subjected to excessive charges for assistance regarding Department of Veterans Affairs claims, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced Wednesday. The distribution stems from a $1.2 million settlement resolving allegations that the company VetLink Solutions misled disabled veterans and illegally charged fees.

Unaccredited Claims Assistance and False Advertising

Between January 2019 and March 13, 2024, VetLink Solutions promised to guide veterans through the complex federal benefits process and boost their benefits, according to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

The office said that the company falsely advertised its services and charged disabled veterans fees to file VA disability claims, despite lacking accreditation to do so.

Eligibility Rules and Immediate Payout Timeline

As part of the settlement, VetLink paid $1.2 million into a fund to repay eligible customers. Veterans who paid the company for help with a disability claim between Jan. 2019 and March 13, 2024, and filed a claim form by Sept. 10, are eligible for payments. The Attorney General’s Office expects to send the money this week.
