Denver Water Manages Potable Water Supply for Littleton Residents

Denver Water Manages Littleton Potable Supply

Potable water in the City of Littleton is provided and managed by Denver Water. The Littleton Public Works Department does not provide these services, though it collaborates with Denver Water on Littleton projects as needed.

Property owners with utility questions, water line breaks, or service disruptions should contact Denver Water directly during business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at 303-893-2444. An after-hours line is also active at 303-628-6801.

Western Slope Sources Feed Metro Taps

The Colorado River and the western side of the Continental Divide supply the majority of the water used in the Denver region. This water supply system can be seen in Denver Water’s Water Collection system map.

Littleton is highlighted with a red star in these maps. This infrastructure network also intersects with the High Line Canal, part of which runs through Littleton.

Semi-Arid Realities Drive Regional Conservation

While Littleton has a reliable source of potable drinking water, conservation remains important given that Colorado and the Denver Metro Area has a semi-arid climate. Water “from the tap” is one part of the overall water cycle where saving water and restricting personal use helps to provide water to others downstream in Colorado.

Working alongside the Openwater Foundation, the South Platte and Metro Basin Roundtables created a collection of Storymaps aimed at educating the public on critical state water challenges to build greater community understanding. These resources suggest ways to be water wise and potentially save money.
