Dodgers Eyeing Bulked-Up Bullpen
The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly expected to pursue left-handed reliever Adrián Morejón this winter. The move could pair the San Diego Padres’ flamethrower with Edwin Díaz to create a formidable late-inning combination.
The Sporting News reported that the Dodgers are eyeing bullpen additions as they look to strengthen their roster. Last winter, Los Angeles landed Edwin Díaz on a three-year, $69 million deal from the New York Mets, setting an average annual value record for a relief pitcher.
Morejón Pitched Heavy Bullpen Innings and High-Leverage Outs
Pitching remains a central focus for the organization. Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors noted that Morejón finished the 2026 season with 86 innings pitched, ranking third among all relievers in Major League Baseball. Houston’s AJ Blubaugh and Milwaukee’s Aaron Ashby were the only pitchers in the sport to log more innings out of the bullpen.
Morejón proved durable and effective in high-pressure situations, recording 25 appearances of four or more outs out of 76 total appearances. He topped out at two innings on eight occasions, finishing the year with 28 holds, three saves, and ranking seventh among qualified relievers in win probability added.
The Qualifying Offer Decision Ahead
Whether Morejón arrives in Los Angeles depends on his impending decision regarding a qualifying offer. AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reported that the Padres extended a one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offer to the 27-year-old left-hander ahead of Monday’s deadline. Morejón has until November 17 to accept or decline the offer and test free agency.
Chasing Another World Series Weapon
Morejón pitched on a $3.9 million deal with San Diego during the 2026 season. If the Dodgers successfully pry him away from their division rivals, pairing him with Díaz would give Los Angeles back-to-back high-velocity options to close out games.
With the Dodgers’ history of aggressive roster building, the opportunity to compete for a World Series title stands as a primary selling point for players entering the market.
