Kinnick Stadium Rebound: Iowa Dominates Wisconsin 30-0 After Minnesota Stumble
The frustration was palpable among Iowa football fans following a brutal offensive showing in a 13-10 loss at Minnesota just a week ago. After a promising 5-1 start, the narrative surrounding the Hawkeyes quickly shifted and questions mounted across Iowa City. At least for one week, that frustration was put on hold at Kinnick Stadium on Halloween.
Responding in a big way to the Minnesota fiasco, the Hawkeyes defeated the Wisconsin Badgers 30-0 in a display of sheer dominance, Hawk Central reported. Over the last three meetings, Iowa has outscored Wisconsin 109-10, extending its overall winning streak in the matchup to five games.
Quarterback Efficiency and Passing Game Revival
Following a rough outing by Iowa quarterbacks in the loss to Minnesota, Hank Brown bounced back with a sensational performance against the Badgers. Brown was an efficient 20-of-24 for 222 yards and two touchdowns without committing any turnovers, cementing his grasp on the starting quarterback job.

The passing game successfully distributed the ball to dynamic playmakers. DJ Vonnahme recorded five catches for 54 yards and a receiving touchdown alongside a rushing score. Tony Diaz added four catches for 75 yards, nearly breaking away for a rushing touchdown before being stopped just short on a 21-yard scamper. Reece Vander Zee contributed five receptions for 51 yards, marking a clear step forward for the offense.
Defensive Lockdown and Special Teams Perfection
Iowa’s defense continued its stellar play since the team’s bye week, holding Minnesota to 13 points and completely shutting out Wisconsin. The Badgers mustered just 235 total yards, including a meager 52 yards on the ground, while Iowa claimed 21 first downs to Wisconsin’s nine.
A pivotal defensive stand occurred in the second quarter when Iowa stopped Wisconsin on fourth down from inside the one-yard line to preserve the shutout. Kicker Caden Buhr added a flawless performance on special teams, making all six of his kicks, three of which were field goals, including a career-long 54-yarder.
Turnovers, Penalties, and Remaining Questions
Iowa won the turnover battle 3-1. Near the end of the first half, Wisconsin quarterback Colton Joseph fumbled, and Jayden Montgomery recovered. In the fourth quarter, Jacob Wallace secured an interception, followed by a late fumble forced by Zach Lutmer and recovered by Rashad Godfrey Jr. on Wisconsin’s final possession.

Penalties heavily favored the Hawkeyes, who were flagged just twice for 10 yards compared to Wisconsin’s eight penalties for 70 yards. Despite the decisive win, ball security remains a concern as Iowa fumbled three times, including two by Xavier Williams. Additionally, quarterback Hank Brown absorbed several big hits, highlighting the ongoing priority of keeping the starter healthy as the team heads deeper into November.
