Kansas Wesleyan Sweeps Friends University in Volleyball Season Finale

Garvey Center finale ends Falcons campaign

The Friends University volleyball season came to a definitive close on November 7, 2026, inside the Garvey Center in Wichita, Kansas, as the Falcons dropped a 3-0 decision to the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes.

Early momentum slips away in opening frame

The match began with early momentum for the hosts. In the opening set, Grace McClintock orchestrated a four-point service burst that included three aces surrounding a kill by Gabbie Taylor. That sequence transformed a 9-9 gridlock into a 13-9 advantage for Friends. The Falcons extended that margin to 16-11 before Kansas Wesleyan mounted a response.

Campbell Bohling sparked the Coyotes’ comeback with consecutive kills, triggering a five-point run that leveled the score at 16-16. Kansas Wesleyan maintained that surge to capture the opening set 25-21.

Coyotes seize control in straight-set sweep

The second set shifted quickly in the visitors’ direction when the Coyotes rattled off seven consecutive points, turning a 1-1 tie into an 8-1 lead. Friends managed to claw back within 19-14, but Bohling secured the set with two straight kills for a 25-17 final score.

Falcons fight back before late errors seal fate

Faced with a match sweep, the Falcons mounted a mid-set push in the third frame. Moving from a 6-5 deficit to a 12-7 lead, Taylor delivered back-to-back service aces, and Sofia Mekelburg contributed a kill. Once again, Kansas Wesleyan answered, stringing together an 8-3 run to reclaim the advantage at 15-14.

With the score tied at 18-18, consecutive attack errors pushed the Coyotes ahead for good. Ryan Pennington then recorded three late kills to seal the set 25-21 and secure the three-set sweep for Kansas Wesleyan.
