Tragic Learjet Crash in South Florida Neighborhood Leaves Nine Dead
A private Learjet 60 plummeted into a South Florida mobile home community on Sunday, November 1, 2026, leaving at least nine people dead after a catastrophic rapid descent captured on air traffic control audio.
The aircraft, valued at approximately $2 million and registered to the Wilmington, Delaware private business LR60271 LLC, was traveling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas. The flight ended in disaster around 1 p.m. Sunday when the jet smashed into the Greenacres mobile home community, just outside Palm Springs in Palm Beach County.
Final Moments Captured on Air Traffic Control Audio
Moments before the catastrophe, the pilot reported moderate turbulence and manageable light, clear ice to the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center. Conditions deteriorated rapidly as the aircraft entered an extreme overspeed condition.

“We are in an overspeed condition, descending 20,000 feet per minute,” the pilot screamed to air traffic control. “We’re going to crash into the ground.”
As the controller attempted to intervene, a female crew member radioed back in panic. “We are descending 22,000 feet, and we are banking, 60 degrees … look outside,” she said. In the final seconds before impact, she screamed, “Holy f–k we’re out of time.”
Impact Site Near Palm Beach
The crash triggered a massive fireball, left a deep crater in the earth, clipped a tree, and brought down power lines. Witnesses reported the sound was so loud it resembled a missile strike, Aviation 24/7 reported.
CNN reported that the accident occurred about nine miles from the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach County and four miles south of a West Palm Beach airport, from which Trump had taken off more than an hour prior to the fiery wreck.
Officials stated that there are “multiple fatalities,” though they have yet to verify the total count of those killed or injured, including individuals on the ground.
