Thirty-one ties across four fiercely contested sets can wear down even the most resilient volleyball squad, and for Lubbock Christian University, that milestone marker signified the end of the line. Inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum, the Lady Chaparrals battled through a match on Friday, November 6, 2026, before Midwestern State finally pulled away for a 3-1 Lone Star Conference victory, taking the sets 30-28, 28-26, 19-25, and 25-16.
The loss closed LCU’s season at 12-15 overall and 8-9 in LSC play, while Midwestern State improved to 16-12 and 11-6. The Lady Chaps had entered the regular-season finale needing a victory to remain alive for one of nine LSC Championship berths, setting up a high-stakes showdown that lived up to its billing through every exhausting rally.
A Historic Triple-Double Effort Falls Just Short
Sophomore Camdyn Sears capped her season with a historic performance, recording 25 assists, 18 digs, and 11 kills to notch her fourth triple-double of the season. The stat line also marked her 16th double-double of the year and the 39th of her LCU career. Sears became the fourth player in NCAA Div. II play to reach four triple-doubles this season, finishing the year 12 assists shy of her 2,000th career assist.

The offensive load was shared across the floor as senior Camryn Blair added 14 kills and 10 digs for her second career double-double. Freshmen Hope Gonsioroski and Kayson Reeves chipped in with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Defensively, the Lady Chaps produced a season-high 93 digs, with six players reaching double figures. Leigh Jespersen collected 13 digs, Ramsey Clark and Haley Wheeler each added 12—with Wheeler setting a new career high—and Sienna Cavalier rounded out the group with 10.
Late-Set Surges and Missed Opportunities in Wichita Falls
The margins between victory and heartbreak were razor-thin in the opening frames. LCU held late leads in each of the first two sets, sitting at 28-27 in the opening frame and 26-25 in the second. Both times, Midwestern State answered with three straight points to snatch the set away. Isabella Dickens and Nyle Mathis each finished with 19 kills for the Mustangs, while setter Macy Scheer recorded 61 assists and 11 digs for a double-double.
After dropping the tight opening battles, LCU rebounded convincingly in the third set. Sears paced the frame with five kills, while Haley Wheeler served five straight points—including two aces—to spark a push that carried the Lady Chaps to a 25-19 win. However, Midwestern State seized control early in the fourth set with a five-point run and never relented, closing out the match 25-16.
The match involved LCU’s senior class. Camryn Blair finished with 14 kills and 10 digs to cap her season with 420 career kills in 62 matches played. Other seniors included Tatum Fleitman, who finished with five kills and two blocks to cap her 64-match career with 263 career kills and 93 total blocks, and Ramsey Clark, who closed her 112-match career with 907 career digs and 73 career aces.
