Montgomery Development Projects Drive Growth and Community Progress

Montgomery Quarter Expansion and Residential Growth Drive Local Economy

As autumn brings cooler temperatures to the region, development across Montgomery is accelerating at a rapid pace. According to a message from the City of Montgomery, commercial construction, residential projects, and infrastructure upgrades are currently active in the community.

At the Montgomery Quarter, Phase II construction is taking shape with the future headquarters of ClarkDietrich, a leading provider of cold-formed steel framing products. The company’s construction materials are already visible at the building site. Just to the south, Hills Properties has underway the construction of 239 additional luxury apartments, accompanied by plans for more restaurants, entertainment venues, and public gathering spaces.

Historic District Updates and Independent Living Additions

Within Montgomery’s Historic District, the Montgomery Inn has recently finished an interior renovation. Nearby on Shelly Lane, Wentz Design converted a former auto shop into its new office space. The same firm is also repurposing the adjacent former Village Hall building, which is slated to reopen as a cocktail bar.

In senior living developments, Twin Lakes has completed and fully reserved Trillium, a 30-unit luxury independent living development situated on Don Neyer Way. The roadway honors former Twin Lakes resident and community partner Don Neyer.

Public Safety and Municipal Infrastructure Projects

Major improvements are progressing at the city’s Safety Center. The 18-month renovation project will expand and modernize the shared Police and Fire Department facility, adding direct access from the fire bays to Montgomery Road to improve emergency response operations. The initiative includes expanded living and workspace for a growing staff, a new training tower, and enhanced security features.

To bolster emergency services, the Fire Department added a new Quint fire truck equipped with a 110-foot aerial ladder. Meanwhile, corporate presence expanded in September as more than 800 employees from Fifth Third Bank’s Operations Center arrived at the office building located at Pfeiffer Road and Interstate 71.

Strategic Planning and Fiscal Stewardship

City Hall officials finalized several administrative milestones this year, including the completion of a five-year Strategic Plan, the initiation of a new Parks Master Plan, and the finalization of the 2027 Operating and Capital budgets.

Municipal leaders note that ongoing investments from new and established businesses—spanning developments like Montgomery Quarter, Vintage Club, and the Triangle property—generate significant economic benefits. These revenues support the City, Sycamore Community Schools, and Great Oaks Career Campus, helping maintain low municipal taxes while funding key capital projects such as the Safety Center renovation.
