Netflix Renews Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black for Season 4

Netflix has renewed Tyler Perry’s soapy drama Beauty in Black for a fourth season and scheduled its third-season premiere for August 27, 2026, reversing an earlier decision to conclude the series after three installments following strong viewership numbers in its second season.

Late last year, Netflix announced that the soapy thriller would wrap up its run with its upcoming third chapter. Instead, the streamer has greenlit an additional round of episodes, giving creator Tyler Perry more runway to explore the complicated web of the prestige beauty empire and the underground trafficking ring tethered to its operations.

The turnaround follows solid audience engagement for the show’s sophomore run. That performance outpaced several other high-profile offerings on the service, including the second season of the Tina Fey comedy The Four Seasons, the tenth season of Love Is Blind, the second season of Beef, and the fifth season of Sweet Magnolias.

Season 3 Release Date and Shifting Power Dynamics

The rapid turnaround places the upcoming release among the fastest production and deployment cycles for a scripted drama on the platform, following Season 1 premieres in October 2024 and March 2025, and Season 2 rollouts in September 2025 and early 2026.

When the story resumes, the hierarchy within the Bellarie cosmetics empire will look entirely different. Kimmie, portrayed by Taylor Polidore Williams, transitions from her early struggles as an unassuming sex worker to holding a seat at the leadership table. With Horace, played by Ricco Ross, stepping back into the fold, the boardroom alliances that closed out the second season have fundamentally altered the power structure.

“By the end of Season 2, the entire power structure shifts. Part 2 is really the moment Kimmie stops surviving and starts playing the game.”

An Uneasy Alliance Against a Familial Civil War

The core conflict of the upcoming episodes centers on an internal family war that threatens to dismantle the enterprise from within.

“Kimmie finally has a seat at the Bellarie table, but when a deadly family feud erupts, she’s forced into an uneasy alliance with Mallory. Together, they navigate a ruthless world of blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets as the family wages war against one of its own, threatening to bring the entire empire crashing down.”

That fragile partnership must withstand multiple fronts of pressure. Beyond the corporate and familial warfare, head of security Jules, played by Charles Malik Whitfield, continues his relentless search for answers regarding the tragic death of his son, Glen, portrayed by Ace Small.

Cast Returns and Production Efficiencies

The third season brings back the principal ensemble alongside newcomers. Alongside Williams and Stewart, returning cast members include Amber Reign Smith as Rain, Xavier Smalls, Julian Horton as Roy, Steven G. Norfleet as Charles, Richard Lawson as Norman, Terrell Carter as Varney, Bryan Tanaka as Officer Alex, Charles Malik Whitfield as Jules, and Debbi Morgan as Olivia. New additions for the third season include Bailey Tippen, Philemon Chambers, and Philip Boyd, joining an already sprawling roster.

Behind the scenes, the production model championed by Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta continues to drive the franchise’s economic viability.

“Beauty in Black is back for Season 4, and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished. There was so much more I wanted to explore, and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!”
