Remembering Carol Lynne Malone: Services Set in Brookings
Carol Lynne Malone passed away in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on October 21, 2026, leaving behind a tight-knit family, a career dedicated to public service, and a lifetime of quiet joys. As Eidsness Funeral and Cremation Services reported, a memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on November 4, 2026, at the Eidsness Funeral Home Brookings Chapel, preceded by a visitation from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Born in Camden, New Jersey, Carol was the oldest of two children. Growing up in New Jersey, she spent her days reading books, playing with dolls, and occasionally teasing her younger brother, Alfred. She was a dedicated student who went on to graduate from Camden Catholic High School, building a foundation of discipline and curiosity that followed her throughout her life.
In 1996, Carol and her family of five relocated to South Dakota. There, they built a permanent home and she raised her three children. Professionally, she found a sense of purpose working for the Division of Rehabilitation Services for the State of South Dakota, where she genuinely enjoyed her daily tasks and the lasting friendships she forged with her co-workers.
A Life Found in Simple Pleasures
Away from work, Carol found contentment in everyday pursuits. Whether she was sewing, losing herself in a good book, or searching out a dependable bargain, she appreciated the small details that brought steady happiness to her routine.
She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Joy Crosby; her mother, Judith M. Malone; her brother, Alfred M. Malone; her uncle, Edward Kordeck and his wife, Pamela; her aunt, Jane Carol Wilson and her husband, Sam; her uncle Phillip Tumminia; her great-aunt, Lorraine Wiatr; her beloved dog, Mister; and numerous cousins and friends. The family extended a special note of gratitude to Jeanette Malone, Charla Harford, and Heather Harris for their support.
Carol was preceded in death by her two sons, Jesse Crosby and Matthew Crosby; her father, Alfred M. Malone Sr.; and her aunt, Catherine Tumminia.
