Regions Bank to host free college and financial event in New Orleans

High school graduation season often brings quiet anxiety into family living rooms, where the abstract concept of college suddenly collides with real tuition bills, financial aid forms, and career choices. To bridge that gap, New Orleans families will soon have a direct line to banking professionals and educators without paying a dime for the advice.

Regions Bank announced plans on Thursday to host Extra Credit: Your Next Step Starts Here, a free educational event tailored for area high school students and their parents, doingmoretoday.com reported. The program arrives as local families face mounting pressure to decode higher education financing long before caps and application deadlines close in.

Where and When the Program Takes Place

The upcoming seminar is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. at Delgado Community College’s Ochsner Center for Nursing & Allied Health in New Orleans. Organizers note that while the session costs nothing to attend, registration is strictly required and seating capacity inside the Ochsner Center remains limited.

The evening features practical guidance covering college planning, fundamental money management, and long-term financial wellness. Students and parents will hear directly from financial professionals and community leaders, gaining hands-on access to resources designed to simplify the leap from secondary school to higher education or the workforce.

“The transition from high school to college, technical training or a career is one of life’s most important milestones,” said Graham Ralston, New Orleans market president for Regions Bank. “When students and families have access to practical information and trusted guidance, they are better prepared to make confident decisions about their future.”

Building Confidence Before Graduation Day

For many local households, the biggest hurdle isn’t just getting accepted into a school or training program; it is understanding how to pay for it without drowning in debt.

At Delgado Community College, we know that planning for college can be exciting, but also overwhelming for students and their families. We are pleased to work with Regions Bank to provide practical guidance, financial education, and resources that help families feel more confident about the journey ahead. Together, we are helping students take their next steps toward a brighter future., said Dr. Stacy Welcome, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Delgado Community College.

Attendees at the November 12 event will tackle essential money-management skills, build a foundational understanding of personal finance, and review actionable strategies for paying for college. The curriculum aims to deliver information that participants can apply immediately, whether they are exploring higher education options for the first time or preparing to sign enrollment papers.

Beyond the live seminar at Delgado Community College, Regions Bank maintains ongoing digital tools for students, including Regions Next Step for Students. This platform offers self-paced, mobile-friendly modules on student loans, taxes, and identity protection that take ten minutes or less to complete. Families can also utilize Regions Greenprint for one-on-one goal-setting sessions, or explore student-specific accounts like LifeGreen checking and savings.

Registration for the New Orleans event remains open to the public until capacity is reached. Organizers confirm that participants are not required to be existing Regions Bank customers to attend or access the financial wellness materials.
