Register for the U.S. Supreme Court Bar Admission Ceremony March 2027

For attorneys looking to take their practice to the highest level of American jurisprudence, the calendar is locked for spring. The U.S. Supreme Court Bar Admission Ceremony is officially scheduled for March 31, 2027, offering qualifying alumni an opportunity to be formally admitted into the bar of the nation’s highest court.

The path to the courtroom floor requires navigating a rigid set of federal prerequisites. According to the official Supreme Court bar instructions, applicants must have been admitted to practice in the highest court of a state, commonwealth, territory, possession, or the District of Columbia for a minimum of three years immediately preceding their application date.

Candidates must also maintain an unblemished disciplinary record, remaining entirely free of any adverse disciplinary actions during that mandatory three-year window, alongside proving themselves to be of sound moral and professional character.

Admission Logistics and Financial Requirements

Securing a spot comes with specific administrative steps and fixed costs. The admission fee is set at $200.

Because of strict seating limitations inside the courtroom, participants are restricted to bringing just one guest to the ceremony. The paperwork demands meticulous attention to detail:

  • A fully completed application form
  • Original wet signatures from two U.S. Supreme Court sponsors
  • An official Certificate of Good Standing issued by the applicant’s state supreme court or highest court

The Schedule on Admission Day

When March 31 arrives, admittees will step into a tightly choreographed morning schedule at the court building. Security screening opens its doors at 8:00 a.m., followed immediately by a morning breakfast hosted inside the Supreme Court building from 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Between 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., candidates will meet with U.S. Supreme Court admission staff to finalize documentation before the formal admission ceremony commences at 10:00 a.m.
