Search Underway for Missing 30-Year-Old Springfield Man Avery Maitia

Lane County deputies are actively searching for 30-year-old Avery Christopher Maitia, who vanished after leaving his residence in Springfield on Halloween. Authorities have launched an urgent investigation into the disappearance of Maitia, who left his adult foster care facility on the 1200 block of Janus Court and failed to return as scheduled.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office reported being notified of the missing person at approximately 1:10 a.m. on Nov. 1. According to officials, Maitia originally departed the facility at about 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 31 and was expected to be away for only 30 minutes. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office has expressed concern regarding his safety, noting that he possesses significant medical and mental health issues.

Circumstances of the Disappearance

Investigators have confirmed that Maitia does not have his necessary medications with him, nor does he have a cellphone to facilitate communication. Because he has only resided at the Janus Court facility for a few months, authorities believe it is unlikely that he knows individuals in the immediate area. The search efforts remain ongoing as deputies work to track his movements since he was last seen on Thursday afternoon.
