Telemundo Claims No. 1 Prime-Time Spot as 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards Airs From Miami

The 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards secured the top spot in Spanish-language television for the 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. primetime slot on Thursday, Oct. 22, according to performance data released by broadcaster Telemundo. Broadcast live from the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida, the annual celebration averaged 335,000 adults aged 18 to 49 and 1.1 million total viewers, as measured by Nielsen. The broadcast reached its peak at 8:30 p.m., drawing 400,000 adults in the key demographic and 1.2 million total viewers.

Alongside its linear television audience, the event generated significant digital reach. Telemundo reported that its digital platforms and social channels captured 306 million total views, marking a 57% increase compared to the 2025 ceremony. Viewers watched a combined 29.7 million minutes across digital spaces, representing a 41% gain year-over-year. According to Talkwalker Social Content Ratings, the ceremony achieved a No. 1 ranking across all television programming for total social video views on the day of the broadcast, leading all programs regardless of language. Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram drove much of the social engagement, while YouTube viewing minutes more than doubled with a 101% increase against the previous year, supported by expanded livestream coverage.

Fuerza Regida and Bad Bunny Lead Category Wins

The ceremony featured 47 categories spanning pop, tropical, Latin rhythm, and regional Mexican genres. Mexican-American band Fuerza Regida emerged as the evening’s primary winner, taking home eight trophies alongside the Billboard Vanguard Award, which recognizes artists who push musical boundaries. The group’s wins included Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year (Duo or Group), Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year (Duo or Group), and Regional Mexican Artist of the Year (Duo or Group).

“We’re a bit at a loss for words — there aren’t many words to say — but this represents a 10-year journey, a lot of hard work and a great deal of effort. I want to thank our fans, our families, the team at Street Mob Records and all our people. Thank you so much,” band member Jesús Ortiz Paz said.

Though not in attendance, Bad Bunny followed closely with seven award wins, including artist of the year, tour of the year, and songwriter of the year. Karol G, Peso Pluma, and Romeo Santos each collected four trophies. Karol G secured honors including hot Latin songs female artist, Latin pop song of the year, and the newly established Fan Favorite Artist award—a category that marked the first time fans had a direct opportunity to choose a winner. Rosalía, Tito Double P, and Prince Royce each won three awards. Rosalía also received the Billboard Hall of Fame Award for her career and global influence.

Special career recognitions were presented during the live event. Cristian Castro received the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award for his enduring and exceptional career.
