Professional Milestones and Community Resilience in Jefferson County
Trudy Redus, founder of Motivating People Across Communities (MPAC), has officially earned the Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) certification. This designation, awarded through the Community Development Council, marks a significant step in Redus’s ongoing work to foster economic advancement and sustainable growth in the region. Redus described the milestone not merely as a career achievement, but as an extension of her dedication to building pathways for business growth and improving the local quality of life.
Food Safety Oversight and Recent Health Inspections
While community leaders focus on economic development, the Arkansas Department of Health continues its routine oversight of local establishments. The oversight extends to school facilities as well. During an inspection of the White Hall High School football concession stand, officials identified the presence of home-prepared food—specifically pulled pork—which is prohibited in a retail food establishment under state regulations. At the high school’s baseball concession stand, which was closed during the inspection, officials observed spoiled food in storage units and noted that countertops required cleaning. These inspections remain unannounced and are part of the state’s Arkansas Food Inspection Portal mandate to ensure public safety across restaurants, schools, and concession stands.

Community Engagement and Upcoming Local Events
Beyond regulatory and professional updates, the Pine Bluff and White Hall areas are preparing for a busy November calendar focused on civic engagement, arts, and local support.
The University of Arkansas at Monticello is set to host the UAM Jazz One ensemble on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Directed by Kevin Bryson, the concert will highlight the influence of Arkansans on the jazz genre, featuring works by legends like Duke Ellington and Pharoah Sanders. The performance will include guest artist and UAM alumna Julia Buckingham.
