The violence unfolded inside seasonal costume shops. In Fairfield, located about 37 miles northeast of Sacramento, gunfire broke out inside the Spirit Halloween location at the Solano Town Center late Friday. Fairfield police said the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was a targeted incident involving a single suspect inside the store.
Constance Hages, a 31-year-old female, was killed in the California shooting, Fairfield Police stated Saturday. Family members informed detectives that Hages was pregnant at the time of her death, a detail authorities are working to confirm following an examination by the Solano County Coroner.
All seven victims in the Fairfield store sustained gunshot wounds. The remaining survivors were rushed to area hospitals for treatment. Police confirmed that three victims—a 16-year-old male, a 19-year-old male, and a 32-year-old male—were listed in critical condition. A 23-year-old male was hospitalized in critical but stable condition, while two other victims, a 19-year-old male and a 43-year-old male, were treated for their wounds and subsequently released from the hospital.
Detectives spent the overnight hours speaking with witnesses at what they described as a very active crime scene, working to identify the person responsible.
Suburban Detroit Incident and Corporate Response
A shooting occurred late Friday afternoon at a Spirit Halloween store in Madison Heights, located about 12 miles north of Detroit. Police in Madison Heights reported that a 21-year-old man was killed during the altercation.
According to CBS News Detroit, the suspected shooter, also 21 years old, was acquainted with the victim. The two men got into an altercation before the suspect opened fire, striking the victim multiple times.
