Whataburger is expanding its footprint in the Midlands, with plans to open a new location at the in-development Victory Village shopping center along the Augusta Highway in Lexington, The State reported.
The fast-growing retail hub, situated just west of Lexington High School, is taking shape following its initial announcement in 2025. Commercial real estate firm NAI Columbia, which handles marketing for the property, includes Whataburger among the businesses slated for the center’s outparcels.
Development Details and Construction Progress
Lexington County property records confirm that WB Real Estate LLC, which serves as the real estate arm of Whataburger, purchased an outparcel at the Victory Village site in late August. A site diagram from NAI Columbia places the upcoming burger joint among several other national brands preparing to open along the Augusta Highway corridor.
Construction work at the development is already well underway. A Target store and an Academy Sports + Outdoors store serve as the primary anchors for the project, with active construction visible on site.
Beyond the retail anchors and the incoming Whataburger, the Victory Village center is set to host several other food and beverage options. A Chipotle Mexican Grill and a Dave’s Hot Chicken are planned for the southeast corner near the highway, while public records and real estate listings indicate a Dutch Bros Coffee will occupy another outparcel.
Growing Regional Footprint
The new Lexington location adds to Whataburger’s established presence across the Midlands. Other area restaurants operate on Devine Street in Columbia, in Irmo, on Bridgeberry Lane in northeast Columbia, on South Lake Drive in Lexington, and on Platt Springs Road near Red Bank.
Commercial real estate listings and county documents show that site development is continuing as contractors push forward with the broader shopping center project near Lexington High School.
