476,802 Early Ballots Cast in Indiana Ahead of 2026 Midterms

Indiana Midterm Turnout Surges With 476,802 Early Ballots Cast Ahead of Tuesday

Voters across Indiana have already submitted 476,802 ballots with one week remaining until the 2026 midterm elections, according to data reported by WFYI. That total outpaces the 415,547 ballots cast at the exact same point ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, representing an increase of 61,345 votes statewide.

In-Person Voting Drives the Increase

The statewide jump is fueled almost entirely by voters heading to the polls ahead of Tuesday, November 3. In-person early voting saw a roughly one-third increase compared to the previous cycle. Voters have cast 405,786 early in-person ballots so far this year, up significantly from the 296,792 recorded at this juncture in 2022.

Mail-in voting tells a different story. Statewide mail-in totals dropped by over 43%. Residents mailed 113,808 ballots by this point in 2022, but that figure has fallen to 64,721 in 2026.

Marion County Mirrors Statewide Trends

Marion County data closely tracks the broader statewide movement. Seven days before the midterm election, Marion County residents submitted 13,145 more votes than they had by the same point in 2022.
