Arizona Freshman R.J. Mosley Carted Off Field With Knee Injury Against Texas Tech
Arizona freshman wide receiver R.J. Mosley was carted off the field and taken to an area hospital for further evaluation after suffering a serious left leg injury late in the third quarter of the No. 22 Wildcats’ 34-26 loss at No. 13 Texas Tech on Saturday, the Associated Press reported.
Arizona freshman receiver RJ Mosley suffered a bad knee injury. I think it's fair to say he's done for the year. He's a promising receiver with a bright future. Hate this for him.
Mosley caught a pass underneath on third-and-18 and went down short of the first down following a hit from Texas Tech cornerback Amier Boyd, according to the AP. As he sat on the turf, Mosley reached toward his left knee before lying down on the field.
Medical Response and Broadcast Decision in Lubbock
According to Associated Press coverage, Arizona team officials confirmed after the game that Mosley was transported to an area hospital to undergo evaluations on his lower leg. No further medical details were immediately provided.
During the live broadcast, ESPN chose not to show a replay of the hit that led to the injury, noting through its production truck that the footage was not suitable for replay. As medical staff attended to the freshman receiver, his leg was placed in a cast before he was loaded onto a medical cart. ESPN reported that Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita prayed on the field while teammates surrounded Mosley, and the stadium crowd cheered as he was driven away.
Arizona head coach Brent Brennan addressed the situation following the final whistle. R.J. Mosley is being evaluated for a lower leg injury, and I don’t know anything more about it right now, but I do want to thank Coach McGuire and Texas Tech,
Brennan said, as reported by ESPN. They’ve been very, very helpful with that process.
Impact on the Arizona Roster
The loss of Mosley deals another blow to an Arizona receiving corps that has already faced significant personnel hurdles this season. The Wildcats were already playing without top receiver Tre Spivey, whose season was cut short due to a broken foot. Meanwhile, fellow wideouts Giovanni Richardson and Chris Hunter have also missed time this year, though both were available to play against the Red Raiders in Lubbock.

Mosley arrived in Tucson as a highly touted prospect. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 197 pounds, the freshman from Brentwood, California, was a four-star recruit and the highest-rated prospect in Arizona’s incoming class.
