The money-laundering case is linked to alleged financial irregularities in the construction of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, an institution founded by Khan. Following his arrest, Khan alleged that he was being targeted specifically for being a Muslim and for establishing the university and schools. Following an investigation published by The Indian Express regarding the SIR of electoral rolls, the Congress-led INDIA bloc has scheduled a mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday. Rahul Gandhi has appealed to students, civil society groups, and citizens to join the gathering, which runs from 10 am to 5 pm, framing it as a movement to defend democracy and the Constitution.
