Louisville Rout Georgia Tech 44-17 to Clinch Bowl Eligibility and Mark Jeff Brohm’s 100th Win

Louisville Clinches Bowl Eligibility With 44-17 Rout at Georgia Tech

Louisville secured its sixth consecutive season of bowl eligibility, rolling past Georgia Tech 44-17 at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta. The victory marks the fourth straight win for the Cardinals, lifting their record to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The performance showcased a potent offensive attack that has now produced at least 34 points during every game of its current winning streak and at least 27 points across all nine games this season.

I think the fact that we’ve been able to win four in a row here after starting 2-3 is a testament to our guys and coaches, Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm said. It’s not easy to do that.

Cardinals Churn Out 251 Rushing Yards

The Cardinals capitalized on a ground game that ranked ninth nationally in rushing and second in yards per carry entering the matchup. Louisville churned out 251 rushing yards across 36 carries. Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz paced the effort with 81 rushing yards while completing 17 of 25 passes for 182 yards, adding first-half touchdown passes to Tre Richardson and TreyShun Hurry. Richardson contributed 104 all-purpose yards, punctuating his night with a 52-yard touchdown run on an end-around. They had been blitzing outside, Richardson said of his long score. The one time they didn’t, we executed pretty good. I felt good, I felt like I got to show my speed out there. Running back Isaac Brown chipped in his 10th touchdown of the season on an 11-yard run in the third quarter.

Georgia Tech dropped to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in conference play with its third consecutive loss, guaranteeing the Yellow Jackets a sub-.500 finish for the first time since 2022. In an effort to spark the offense, Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key alternated quarterbacks during the first half between starter Alberto Mendoza and backup Grady Adamson. While both threw touchdown passes, the offense struggled to sustain momentum throughout the evening.

Jeff Brohm Secures 100th Coaching Victory

The win marked the 100th head coaching victory of Jeff Brohm’s career, spanning 30 wins at Western Kentucky, 36 at Purdue, and 34 at Louisville. For us we’ve still got a lot of season left and want to take it one game at a time, Brohm said, pointing toward the team’s upcoming schedule. Playing a good team next week against North Carolina is already on my mind.

In the ACC conference, Louisville remains firmly in the mix for the championship race. No. 1 Miami and No. 14 Wake Forest currently hold the top two spots, but the Cardinals sit just one game back in the loss column from Wake Forest, sharing a tier of two-loss conference teams with SMU, Duke, and Clemson. Louisville will travel to face North Carolina next Saturday, while Georgia Tech prepares for a road matchup against Clemson.
