Savannah Chrisley Announces Engagement to Convicted Fraudster Jason Galanis

Reality star Savannah Chrisley announced her engagement and pregnancy on October 27, 2026, with fiancé Jason Galanis. Galanis, 56, is a convicted fraudster whose prison sentence was commuted by Donald Trump in March 2025, and he has been identified as a former business associate of Hunter Biden.

Chrisley, 29, shared the news via an Instagram video and her “Unlocked” podcast, describing her partner as her protector and safe place. The couple began dating in July 2025 and became engaged in December 2025 in the Cayman Islands, roughly five months after they first connected.

The relationship formed through political circles while Chrisley was lobbying for the release of her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were pardoned by Donald Trump in May 2025 following convictions for bank and tax fraud.

Jason Galanis Served Prison Time for Securities Fraud

Galanis carries a significant legal history involving multiple securities fraud schemes. In September 2020, he was sentenced to 189 months in prison after defrauding investors and a Native American tribe. Specifically, federal documents show he stole a large portion of the proceeds of tribal bonds that were intended to fund economic development projects for the Wakpamni Lake Community of the Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota.

His ties to the Biden family were a point of public record during his incarceration. Galanis was a business partner of Hunter Biden from 2012 to 2015 and testified during a 2024 House Oversight Committee hearing into President Joe Biden. He claimed Hunter’s primary value to their business was his family name and his access to his father.

Galanis’ release from prison came in March 2025 when Donald Trump commuted his sentence. This action preceded the pardons granted to the Chrisley parents.

Monet Berger’s Claims of Fraud and Victim Compensation

The revelation of Chrisley’s fiancé has brought forward allegations from Galanis’ ex-wife, Monet Berger. Berger, who was married to Galanis from October 21, 2006, until their separation on May 23, 2016, filed for divorce in August 2017 citing irreconcilable differences.

According to divorce petitions obtained by Us Weekly, Berger claimed she was a victim of Galanis’ schemes and received compensation from the Victim’s Defense Fund. Berger further alleged that Galanis forged her name on multiple tax documents during their marriage.

Court documents also revealed a deception regarding their legal marital status. Berger discovered a letter from the L.A. County Recorder’s Office indicating that Galanis had failed to return a form required to complete their marriage process. Consequently, the marriage was not registered with the Department of Health, though the court still dissolved the putative marriage because the couple had held themselves out as married.

Derek Galanis Warns His Brother Is Not Changed

Not everyone in Galanis’ family views the new engagement as a positive development. His brother, Derek Galanis, told Page Six that the relationship is his brother’s biggest con yet.

Derek, who also has a history of fraud convictions and wrote a book titled Greed and Fear: The Galanis Crime Family, stated he last spoke to Jason in 2016 while they were both held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York.

Galanis’ current financial standing is a matter of significant discrepancy. While some estimates suggest his wealth is as high as $2 million, other reports have suggested his assets are below $1 million or even negative $2.3 million.

Chrisley’s Defense of the 27-Year Age Gap

Addressing the age difference between herself and the 56-year-old Galanis, Chrisley admitted the gap is huge and noted that she initially kept the relationship quiet to avoid public brutality.

During her podcast, Chrisley dismissed the criticism, stating, I genuinely do not care about the opinions of others regarding the age difference. She emphasized the emotional support Galanis has provided during her pregnancy, noting that not a single doctor’s appointment has been missed.

Chrisley described the relationship as a healing force in her life, writing on Instagram that Galanis began healing parts of me he never broke during a period of intense family heartbreak.
