Arvidsson Nets Sixth Career Hat Trick as Detroit Defeats Chicago 4-1
Viktor Arvidsson recorded his sixth career hat trick and contributed an assist to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday, according to a report by the Associated Press. The third four-point game of Arvidsson’s career lifted Detroit to a 5-1-1 stretch over its last seven games.

The matchup unfolded while the Red Wings navigated a major roster disruption. Prior to the opening puck drop, Detroit suspended former team captain Dylan Larkin without pay. Larkin, who submitted a trade request during the offseason, informed the organization through his agent that he would no longer play for the franchise. Larkin had recorded two goals and six assists through 10 games this season, including the tying goal in a shootout victory against Edmonton on Monday.

Chicago seized the early momentum when Connor Bedard capitalized at 5:59 of the first period. Bedard backhanded a rebound past goaltender Spencer Knight after Wyatt Kaiser fired an initial shot toward the net. The Blackhawks entered the contest winless on the road, holding an 0-5 record away from home to start the season.
Detroit wasted three power-play opportunities before finding the equalizer at even strength in the second period. Arvidsson deflected a point shot from William Wallinder past Knight at the 7:31 mark. Later in the frame, Andreas Englund was penalized for hooking Frank Nazar, gifting the Blackhawks a penalty shot at 11:18. Red Wings goaltender John Gibson denied Nazar with a pad save to keep the score level at 1-all.
Special Teams and Late Scoring Seal the Win
Special teams broke the tie early in the third period. With Patrick Kane serving a high-sticking minor penalty, Lucas Raymond struck from the right circle at 1:09 to put Detroit ahead with a power-play goal. Alex DeBrincat picked up two assists on the night, helping orchestrate the offensive pressure.

Arvidsson secured his hat trick in the game’s closing minutes. He tipped in a rebound off a shot from DeBrincat with 4:34 remaining on the clock, then capped the scoring with an empty-net goal. Gibson finished the evening with 18 saves, while Knight stopped 25 shots for Chicago.
Looking ahead on the schedule, the Blackhawks travel to face Boston on Saturday. The Red Wings remain at home to host St. Louis on the same day.
