Logan Aaron Abrahamson Arrested After SWAT Standoff in West Fargo
A West Fargo man was arrested Monday after police said he entered a vacant house, prompting hours of negotiations, a SWAT response, and the evacuation of neighboring homes, Valley News Live reported.
Logan Aaron Abrahamson, 24, was taken into custody on suspicion of felony criminal trespass, felony resisting arrest, and felony impersonating an officer, according to the West Fargo Police Department. Authorities noted that additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
The Standoff on 20th Avenue East
Officers responded to the 400 block of 20th Avenue East at approximately 1:45 p.m. following a report of a burglary at an unoccupied residence. Upon arrival, officers identified the intruder as an individual already known to law enforcement.
Because of Abrahamson’s previous interactions with police and intelligence indicating he might be armed, officers initiated negotiations rather than making an immediate entry. When initial attempts to resolve the situation failed, the Red River Valley SWAT Team was called to the scene.
After the tactical team arrived and issued commands, Abrahamson exited the house without incident. He was arrested immediately.
Bomb Squad Called for Suspicious Items
Following the arrest, officers searched the surrounding area and discovered multiple suspicious items. Neighborhood residents were notified and evacuated as a safety precaution while the Red River Valley Regional Bomb Squad was brought in to safely remove the materials.
Police have not yet disclosed what the recovered items were. The Fargo Police Department, the SWAT team, and the bomb squad all assisted the West Fargo Police Department during the incident.
