A seven-year-old boy is fighting for his life in an intensive care unit after being struck by a vehicle in Spanish Fork, Utah, on Halloween night, KUTV reported. The child, identified as Hudson, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple other injuries during the incident, which occurred near 875 North Spanish Fork Parkway around 7:13 p.m. on October 31.

Spanish Fork police investigators stated that Hudson was wearing dark clothing and a mask when he attempted to cross the road in the middle of the block. A southbound Jeep Wrangler struck him during the crossing. Following the collision, emergency responders, including police, firefighters, and EMS crews, arrived at the scene to provide immediate aid before transporting the boy by ambulance to a local hospital.

Hudson’s condition remains critical. According to a family friend who launched a GoFundMe fundraiser, the boy was later flown to Primary Children’s Hospital, where he is currently on life support.

A family faces mounting medical and personal challenges

The impact of the accident extends beyond the immediate medical crisis. Hudson is a twin and one of three children in his family. His mother, Gia, shared through the fundraiser that the community’s support will be directed toward a wide range of urgent needs. These include everyday living expenses, medical and recovery-related costs, and transportation, as well as providing care for Hudson’s two siblings while she remains at the hospital.

Despite the severity of the situation, Gia expressed a perspective of compassion toward the driver involved in the crash. In a message shared via the fundraiser, she addressed the teen driver, stating: “I hold no anger or animosity toward her. My heart hurts for her, too, and I truly hope she’s okay.”

The incident highlights the inherent risks present during holiday celebrations in residential areas, particularly when visibility is compromised by dark clothing or masks. While the investigation into the specific circumstances of the crash continues, the focus for the family remains on Hudson’s survival and the long-term recovery process ahead.
