Nintendo Reveals 23 Indie Games for Switch and Switch 2

Nintendo revealed 23 independent titles for the Switch and Switch 2 during its Indie World Showcase on October 28, 2026. The 15-minute presentation established a January 28, 2027, release date for the long-awaited Witchbrook and announced several immediate “shadow drops” and upcoming 2027 launches.

The showcase functioned as a rapid-fire delivery of dates and platforms, heavily favoring the upcoming Switch 2 hardware. Video Games Chronicle reported that the 23 games were squeezed into 900 seconds, averaging roughly 39 seconds per title. While some titles will span both consoles, a significant portion of the lineup is exclusive to the newer system, including the brawler Tenjutsu and the co-op horror title R.E.P.O.

Witchbrook Launches January 28 2027

The event’s primary headliner was Chucklefish’s Witchbrook, a magical town-building social sim. After years of anticipation, the game is scheduled for January 28, 2027, across PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. The title supports up to four players online in the seaside city of Mossport.

Players will enter the seaside town of Mossport as a witch-in-training at Witchbrook College. The gameplay focuses on attending classes to unlock spells and work toward graduation. For those looking for other early 2027 options, Slime Rancher 2—a puzzle shooter involving vacuuming adorable slimes on Rainbow Island—is slated for a Switch 2 release in January 2027, including an exclusive in-game item for the Switch 2 version. Everything Is Crab arrives on January 26, 2027.

Immediate Launches and November Dates

Nintendo utilized the showcase for several immediate releases and short-term deadlines. Bao Bao’s Cozy Cleaning Services became available on the Switch the same day as the broadcast, October 28.

November will be dominated by two specific titles launching on the same day. On November 10, the Switch 2 will receive both Raccoin: Chaos Max Edition—a coin pusher roguelike described as similar to arcade token-shoving games—and the Switch 2 edition of Tanuki: Pon’s Summer. Spirit Crossing, a collaborative life sim MMO from the creators of Cozy Grove, follows on November 16 as a Nintendo console exclusive.

Switch 2 Pipeline Features Tenjutsu and Dumpster Gang

The showcase highlighted a heavy pipeline for 2027, with many titles leveraging the increased power of the Switch 2. This includes Tenjutsu, a gritty combat roguelike from a Dead Cells designer that features an overhead camera and brawler gameplay. Dumpster Gang, a chaotic co-op sandbox for one to four players where raccoons avoid an Exterminator, arrives on Switch 2 in March 2027. Super Battle Golf, an 8-player cross-platform online game where all players shoot simultaneously, follows shortly after on March 25, 2027.

Xbox Game Pass Integration

Despite being a Nintendo-led event, several titles confirmed their status as Xbox Game Pass day-one releases. This includes Witchbrook, Tanuki: Pon’s Summer, and the console version of Dumpster Gang. While Dumpster Gang’s PC version was previously announced for December 3, its console debut is now aligned with the March 2027 window.

Developers Release Free eShop Demos

To bridge the gap until 2027, several developers released free demos on the eShop today.

While the showcase provided a dense list of 23 games, it left some highly anticipated indie projects unmentioned. No updates were provided for Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong expansion, Sea of Sorrow, despite some community speculation prior to the event.
