More than 1,000 students from Indonesia, India, and Myanmar gathered across Jakarta today as the SIS Group of Schools officially opened the SIS Games 2026. Running from 4 to 7 November across venues in Jakarta, the four-day event brings together school communities for athletic competition, artistic showcases, and intellectual contests under the theme “Diverse. Brave. United.”
Formerly known as the SIS Olympics, the multi-day gathering marks a milestone for the network as it celebrates its 30th anniversary year. The program is designed to connect campuses and cultures, giving participants a platform to build friendships across borders through structured competition and shared artistic performances.
Eight Sports and Six Cultural Disciplines Drive the Four-Day Schedule
The sporting schedule features eight distinct disciplines: basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, swimming, tennis, table tennis, and athletics. Alongside the physical events, students are competing and presenting in six non-sporting categories, which include choir, band, cultural dance, chess, English speaking, and critical thinking.
Events are hosted across SIS South Jakarta, SIS North East Jakarta, and various external sporting venues throughout the city. Organizers structured the program so that students can contribute different strengths, whether performing on stage, competing on the court, or defending an idea in intellectual events.

“SIS Games continues a tradition of bringing our school communities together. At a time when the world seems increasingly fractured and divided, it reminds us of the extraordinary power of shared experiences in sports, the arts and intellectual competition to unite people across geographies, cultures and backgrounds,” said Jaspal Sidhu, Founder and Chairman, SIS Group of Schools.
Sidhu added that the theme reflects the core goal of the competition: fostering pride in individual differences, building the courage to tackle challenges, and reinforcing the idea that common ground outweighs cultural divisions.
Ministry Official Endorses Student Talent Program
Attending the opening, Any Sayekti, Acting Director for Non-Formal and Informal Education at the Directorate General of Early Childhood, Primary, and Non-Formal and Informal Education of the Elementary and Secondary Education Ministry, voiced strong support for the program.
“Naturally, this aligns with the policy already issued by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to develop students’ talents; therefore, this is an excellent initiative,” Sayekti stated.

Beyond talent development, Sayekti noted that the event weaves a sense of fairness and togetherness, drawing in not just the competing students, but also coaches, trainers, parents, and educators from multiple nations.
Road to the Closing Ceremony
The competition will continue across Jakarta venues through the week. The final day of events is scheduled for November 7, featuring athletics at Rawamangun Athletics Stadium.
Following the athletics finals, the SIS Games 2026 will conclude with an official closing ceremony at the Jakarta International Velodrome, where organizers will recognize participant achievements across all eight sports and creative categories.
