Man Charged with Murder of Missing Limerick Mother Carrie Mullane

Man charged with murder following disappearance of Limerish mother

A 35-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Carrie Mullane, a 39-year-old mother from Limerick who has been missing for several weeks. According to reports, the individual faces additional charges of preventing the lawful burial of a corpse. He is scheduled to appear via video link before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on November 7, 2026.

The investigation into the suspected murder of Ms. Mullane (also known as Carrie Noonan) centers on her arrival in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, on October 10. While the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) was first alerted to her disappearance by An Garda Síochána on October 29, detectives now believe it is “very likely” she came to harm shortly after her arrival in Northern Ireland.

On Friday, police conducted intensive searches in County Fermanagh, including Lough Erne. A small boat and a campervan were recovered and taken for examination as part of the ongoing probe.

Detailed a recovery operation at Tullyinishmore Jetty on Friday morning. According to the Impartial Reporter, a barge carrying an excavator was brought to the jetty by a private vessel shortly before 9 a.m., with assistance from a PSNI police boat and a rigid inflatable boat (RIB). The vessel was lifted from the water at approximately 11:15 a.m. This operation prompted Waterways Ireland to issue a marine notice on November 4, closing Tullyinishmore Jetty to both land and water access between Enniskillen and Carrybridge until this Friday.

Police seek witnesses and footage to aid investigation

Detective Superintendent Richard Thornton of the PSNI Serious Crime Branch has appealed for public assistance to bridge the gaps in the timeline. He specifically urged boat owners on Upper Lough Erne to come forward if they spotted the vessel in question between the late hours of October 10 and November 1. Police are also seeking any dashcam, doorbell, or other relevant footage that may have captured the campervan or the boat during that window.

“Carrie is a much loved mother, sister and friend and is greatly missed by everyone who knows and loves her,” Detective Superintendent Richard Thornton said.

While the investigation progresses, authorities have issued a plea for restraint regarding the dissemination of information. The PSNI expressed gratitude for the community’s support but explicitly asked the public to refrain from online speculation.

Despite the arrest and subsequent charges, several questions remain unanswered. While a man is in custody and facing murder charges, the PSNI has confirmed they have not yet established the exact whereabouts of Ms. Mullane.

The next formal step in the legal proceedings will occur on November 7, when the accused man appears before the Dungannon court.
